Lucy Maud Montgomery's granddaughter to attend Anne of Green Gables

Yes! Kate Butler MacDonald will attend the opening night of Anne of Green Gables, the musical, on November 20th, 2015. For some of us this is an event comparable to meeting One Direction! As you may know, Lucy Maud Montgomery lived in Norval from 1926-1935 with her husband Ewan Macdonald who served as minister in Norval Presbyterian Church. Kate is the daughter of Lucy Maud's son Stewart and the spokesperson of the Heirs of L.M. Montgomery society.

Anne of Green Gables public adjudication - Thursday, November 26th

Correction from our Newsletter: In our newsletter from November 10th we incorrectly stated that the public adjudication will take place on Tuesday, November 26. That would work for some other year but not 2015. To set things straight, the public adjudication by Association of Community Theatres Central Ontario (ACT-CO) will take place on Thursday, November 26, 2015 immediately after the 8pm show. If you haven't seen a public adjudication join us!

Charity Book Sale - November 28, 2015, at the Armoury

The Fraser Direct Charity Booksale is back on Sat. Nov. 28h from 8am to 3:30pm! After several years away, Georgetown’s Fraser Direct is once again offering brand new hardcover and paperback books at dirt cheap prices. The company operated the sale for many years at their 100 Armstrong Ave. location and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for our community, but had to discontinue the sale several years ago because they could not close their operations down for several days to prepare for the sale. The growing company simply had no space to set up.

Globe participated in fundraising video for the manse in Norval

In preparations for a major fundraising campaign to purchase the manse in Norval where Lucy Maud Montgomery lived with her husband between 1926-1935 Globe members participated in a fundraising videoshoot together with the members of the L. M. Montgomery Norval. These are pictures from that day.
